Eight Distinguished Citizens Receive Medal of Honour on St. Kitts and Nevis’ 42nd Independence Anniversary

BASSETERRE – The Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis proudly celebrate eight exceptional citizens who have been awarded the Medal of Honour (M.H.) in recognition of their outstanding and meritorious service to the nation on this historic 42nd Anniversary of Independence.

The Medal of Honour, one of the country’s highest civilian distinctions, has been bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated unwavering dedication and made significant contributions across diverse sectors that are vital to the nation’s development and well-being.

2025 Medal of Honour Recipients

Mr. Meredith Charles – Recognized for his exemplary service in Security and Defence, Mr. Charles has played a crucial role in safeguarding the nation and its citizens.

Ms. Joyah Walters – Honoured for her distinguished contributions to Health and Medicine, Ms. Walters has dedicated her career to improving healthcare outcomes for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Pastor Clive Saunders – Awarded for his tireless Community Service and Religious leadership, Pastor Saunders has been instrumental in strengthening communities and providing spiritual guidance.

Mr. Trevor ‘Marty’ Huggins – Celebrated for his achievements and contributions to Sports, Mr. Huggins has helped elevate the basketball’s sporting profile and inspired countless young athletes.

Mrs. Etsu Bradshaw-Caines – Recognized for her exceptional Community Service, Mrs. Bradshaw-Caines has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of citizens across the federation.

Mr. Washington J. Fraites – Honoured for his success in Business and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Fraites has contributed significantly to the nation’s economic development.

Mr. Lennox Warner – Awarded for his outstanding achievements in Business and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Warner has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing the private sector.

Mr. Stedroy Douglas – Recognized for his dual contributions to Sports and Community Service, Mr. Douglas has excelled in promoting athletic excellence while serving his community with distinction.

“These eight remarkable individuals embody the spirit of service and excellence that defines our nation,” said a government spokesperson. “Their dedicated and loyal service to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis is deeply valued and serves as an inspiration to all citizens.”

The Medal of Honour ceremony forms part of the official Independence Day celebrations, marking 42 years since St. Kitts and Nevis gained independence on September 19, 1983.

The honourees represent the diverse talents and contributions that continue to drive the federation’s progress in areas ranging from national security and healthcare to business development, sports excellence, and community leadership.

As St. Kitts and Nevis celebrates this milestone anniversary, the nation takes pride in recognizing these distinguished citizens whose service exemplifies the values of patriotism, excellence, and commitment to the common good.
