Health Ministry Announces Key Leadership Changes

BASSETERRE: The Ministry of Health has appointed Dr. Jenson Morton as Director of Health Projects and Strategic Initiatives, effective immediately, according to an official announcement released January 23, 2026.

Dr. Morton will provide senior-level leadership and oversight for major health-sector transformation initiatives, with particular emphasis on the construction of the new National Hospital and implementation of critical support systems. His portfolio encompasses leadership of several priority areas including new health infrastructure development, digital health transformation, accreditation readiness, financial and administrative reform, hospital governance structures, and human resource planning within the health sector.

“The role is central to ensuring the successful planning, execution, and integration of key national health projects,” the Ministry stated in its release.

The Ministry emphasized that these initiatives form a cohesive transformation agenda aimed at strengthening service delivery, accountability, and sustainability across the public health system.

Additionally, Mrs. Lindsey Maynard has been appointed Acting Director of Health Institutions until further notice. In this capacity, Maynard will provide continuity of administrative leadership and operational oversight across public health institutions during the transition period.

Dr. Daveen Wilkin, Medical Chief of Staff, will continue leading clinical management for Institutions-Based Health Services, ensuring ongoing delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

The Ministry noted that Dr. Morton brings extensive experience in health systems management, institutional reform, and strategic project leadership. His appointment reflects the Ministry’s commitment to structured, forward-looking governance of large-scale health investments and delivery of sustainable, high-quality healthcare services.
