The National Hurricane Center reports Jerry may strengthen into a hurricane by late Friday or Saturday, potentially passing near or northeast of St. Kitts-Nevis tonight. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, and other nearby islands, signaling possible tropical storm conditions by Friday.

Residents should brace for 2 to 4 inches of rain, with up to 6 inches in some areas, raising concerns about flash flooding in urban zones and steep terrain. Swells from Jerry are already reaching the Leeward Islands, creating life-threatening surf and rip currents that will spread to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico tonight.

The Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport’s Meteorological Services report cloudy skies today, with a gentle 9 mph northeast breeze, 81% humidity, and a sea level pressure of 1011.8 mb. The forecast warns of worsening conditions as Jerry approaches, with winds shifting to east-northeast at 10-22 mph, becoming light and variable at times, and seas rising to 7-9 feet with easterly swells up to 8 feet. High Surf Warnings and Advisories will take effect this evening.

Today, expect partly cloudy skies with showers and a 40% chance of thunderstorms. Tonight, overcast conditions bring a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. The storm’s influence, drawing moisture upward from the south, will maintain heightened shower and thunderstorm activity across the Eastern Caribbean today and tonight.
