Mother and Sons Shine at Independence Drill Competition
BASSETERRE: In a heartwarming display of family unity and discipline, Myrtle Daniel, known affectionately as Unruly Sas, and her 15-year-old twin sons, Addijah and Antwan Daniel, stole the spotlight at the 2025 Independence Drill Competition on September 26. Held on Bay Road as part of the nation’s 42nd Independence celebrations, the event showcased precision and pride among participants from the Police, Cadets, Prison, Fire & Rescue, and SCASPA.
Daniel, a SCASPA member, clinched first place in Group 3, while Addijah, a Cadet Corps participant, won Group 4. Antwan secured fourth overall in the individual category, making it a true family affair.
This victory underscores the role of drill competitions in building resilience among youth. In St. Kitts-Nevis, where community events like these reinforce national identity, the Cadet Corps program equips teens with leadership tools, potentially steering them toward careers in security or public service. Amid rising youth challenges, such achievements inspire families to engage in structured activities, promoting unity and deterring negative influences.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) dominated overall, securing Best Group Display and a clean sweep in top awards: Overall Champion and Best Female Turnout went to WPC Danecia Henry, with PC Delvin Williams earning 2nd Place Overall and Best Male Turnout.
