National Half-Holiday Declared to Honour Sir Edmund Lawrence

BASSETERRE:  The Government of St. Christopher and Nevis has declared Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, a National Half-Holiday to commemorate the life and legacy of former Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence, GCMG, OBE, CSM, JP. This solemn observance provides an opportunity for the nation to collectively reflect on and pay tribute to a distinguished public servant whose contributions left an indelible mark on the Federation.

A Life of Service and Dedication

Sir Edmund Lawrence, who passed away recently, served as the Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis from 2013 to 2015. His tenure was marked by a steadfast commitment to national unity, cultural preservation, and the promotion of social and economic progress. A respected figure, Sir Edmund’s career spanned decades of exemplary service in various capacities, earning him widespread admiration for his integrity, humility, and dedication to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
