Nigeria Pledges Experts for SKN Development

BASSETERRE: A high-level Nigerian delegation met with the St. Kitts and Nevis Cabinet this week to strengthen technical cooperation between the two nations, promising to deploy specialized professionals in health and education.

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) team, led by Director General Rt. Hon. Buba Yusuf Yakubu, along with Director of Programmes Zakari Usman and Chargé d’Affaires Amb. Sarah Isong, outlined plans to support the Federation’s development goals through expert deployment.

“NTAC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Federation, with plans to deploy experts in health and education, who will help bridge skills gaps and support national development,” the delegation stated during the courtesy call.

The Nigerian agency, established in 1985, has built an impressive track record of supporting developing nations by providing highly trained volunteer professionals across critical sectors. To date, the Corps has deployed more than 2,500 experts to African and Caribbean countries, including St. Kitts and Nevis.

This partnership represents a significant South-South cooperation initiative and directly supports the Government’s Sustainable Island State Agenda, particularly in advancing human resource development and improving service delivery across the Federation.

The visiting officials emphasized that the technical experts would work alongside local professionals to transfer knowledge and build capacity in strategic areas identified by the St. Kitts and Nevis Government.
