Panama Ambassador Presents Credentials to Government

BASSETERRE: Her Excellency Xiomara Perez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Panama, formally presented her credentials to Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd at Government House on Tuesday, marking a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Central American nation.

The credentialing ceremony, conducted in a spirit of diplomacy and mutual respect, reaffirmed the enduring relationship between the two countries. During their cordial meeting, Dame Marcella and Ambassador Perez pledged to deepen bilateral relations and expand opportunities for cooperation between the two nations.

Following the ceremony at Government House, Ambassador Perez extended her diplomatic engagements with a courtesy call on Acting Prime Minister the Honourable Geoffrey Hanley. The meeting opened the door for constructive dialogue, with both officials reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation.

Panama, a strategic hub for global trade and finance, presents Saint Kitts and Nevis with significant opportunities for partnership across areas including maritime commerce, trade facilitation, and regional development. The Panama Canal — one of the world’s most critical waterways — positions Panama as a key player in Caribbean economic affairs, making the strengthening of this bilateral relationship particularly noteworthy for the Federation.

Ambassador Perez’s accreditation to Saint Kitts and Nevis is based from Barbados, where she serves concurrently as Panama’s Ambassador to that country.
