SKN Competes in SXM Showdown
Sint Maarten: The 2nd Annual U15 Paradise Showdown, held October 4-8, 2025, at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium in Sint Maarten, showcased the vibrant talent of St. Kitts-Nevis’ young basketball players. Despite a 44-31 loss to Grenada in their final game, team St. Kitts-Nevis displayed remarkable energy and heart, earning praise from regional coaches and spectators.
Organized by the Performance Sports Academy (PSA) Athletics Association, the tournament featured teams from Sint Maarten, St. Martin, Saba, Curaçao, Aruba, Anguilla, and Grenada. Over five action-packed days, St. Kitts-Nevis athletes competed in thrilling matches, demonstrating growth and determination. The event included morning training sessions led by esteemed U.S. coaches, fostering skill development, with a special girls-only session promoting female athletes from Curaçao, Saba, and Sint Maarten.
A new All-Star Game highlighted 24 standout players, excluding finalists, offering additional court time to shine. The tournament also focused on elevating referee standards through collaboration with the Netherlands Basketball Bond (NBB), ensuring high-quality officiating.
Omar Beauperthuy, PSA founder, emphasized the event’s role in advancing youth sports, providing St. Kitts-Nevis players a platform to excel. The team’s spirited performance signals a promising future for basketball in the Federation. Fans and supporters from St. Kitts-Nevis added to the electric atmosphere, enjoying Sint Maarten’s hospitality.
