Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 25, 2020 (ZIZ News): Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hazel Laws said that St. Kitts and Nevis is doing extremely well with regards to COVID-19 testing across the federation in comparison to other countries.

She was at the time responding to questions posed by members of the media at Friday’s NEOC COVID-19 briefing where she reminded that St. Kitts-Nevis also enjoys one of the highest rates of testing per capita in the Eastern Caribbean for the COVID-19 virus.

“St. Kitts and Nevis enjoys one of the highest rates of testing per capita in the eastern Caribbean and amongst CARICOM Member states. I want us to remember we are in a pandemic that’s affecting the entire world and so the demand for testing far outstrips the capacity to test. Despite that, for a small nation, we are doing extremely well.

The Ministry of Health is currently using two laboratories to conduct testing; the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) Laboratory in Trinidad and the Next Generation Laboratory in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
