St Lucia government investigates reports of visas discovered in Cuban passports

News-1Castries, St Lucia — The government of Saint Lucia said on Monday that it has become aware of an Associated Press story dated May 15, reporting that “thirty eight Cubans caught trying to sail to the United States had tourist visas to the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia when they were intercepted at sea by the Coast Guard.”

An investigation has been launched into the matter to determine how the alleged visas appeared in the passports of the Cuban nationals, since Cuban nationals do not require tourist visas to visit Saint Lucia.

The government of Saint Lucia said it is in touch with the Cuban and American authorities on this matter.
