Sugar Boyz Head to Indonesia for FIFA Series 2026

BASSETERRE: The St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men’s National Football Team — the Sugar Boyz — departed the Federation on Saturday, March 21, bound for Indonesia where they will compete in the FIFA Series 2026, a groundbreaking global tournament organized by world football’s governing body.

The series brings together 50 men’s and women’s national teams from all six confederations across 12 host nations, making it one of the most diverse international football events outside of a World Cup. For the Sugar Boyz, it represents a rare and valuable stage to measure themselves against international opposition under the full FIFA spotlight.

Head Coach Marcelo Serrano will lead a 23-man squad into action with the team’s first match scheduled for Friday, March 27 at 9 a.m., with a second fixture on March 30. Both matches will be streamed live on the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) platform.

Among the players called up are familiar names including Romaine Sawyers, Jordan Bowery, and Julani Archibald, alongside a blend of emerging local talent such as Savi-K Morton and Jahlyan Burt — signaling a squad built for both experience and future development.

The SKNFA expressed full confidence in the travelling party, extending its “support to the players and technical staff” and wishing the team “every success as they proudly represent St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Notably, five nations competing in the men’s draw have already qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 — Australia, Cabo Verde, Curaçao, New Zealand, and Uzbekistan — underscoring the calibre of competition the Sugar Boyz will be navigating.

Beyond results on the pitch, FIFA designed the series to strengthen capacity-building for participating associations, offering hands-on experience in competition organisation, referee development, and event delivery — all modelled on conditions found at major international tournaments.

For a small footballing nation like St. Kitts and Nevis, the FIFA Series 2026 is more than just a friendly — it is a window to the world
