Taiwan Students Visit SKN UN Mission

New York — Saint Kitts and Nevis hosted Taiwanese secondary school students at its United Nations Permanent Mission in New York on Tuesday, reinforcing the Federation’s commitment to educational diplomacy with Taiwan.

The delegation from L.T Brown International Experimental Education—a school combining Taiwanese and American academic systems—received firsthand insight into multilateral diplomacy and how small nations advocate on the global stage.

Ambassador Mutryce Williams told the students the experience would inspire them to become “active, thoughtful, and engaged global citizens,” adding that the collaboration with Taiwan “continues to be a model of mutual respect, shared values, and meaningful cooperation.”

The visit provided students with practical knowledge about UN committee operations, diplomatic protocol, and how Saint Kitts and Nevis leverages international platforms to advance national interests.

Minister Counselor Eustace Wallace, who personally benefited from similar exchanges during his diplomatic career, emphasized the importance of exposing young people to multilateral diplomacy. “Through this visit, students were able to understand how small states navigate complex international issues,” Wallace said.

Ambassador Donya Francis, representing Saint Kitts and Nevis in Taiwan, described educational exchange as “a cornerstone of the longstanding friendship” between the two nations.

The initiative reflects the government’s strategy of strengthening bilateral partnerships through people-to-people connections and youth engagement, officials said.
