7,000 cruise passengers visit St. Kitts on Tuesday

ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 3, 2010 (CUOPM) – Stakeholders in the cruise tourism industry in St. Kitts were busy Tuesday hosting just over 7,000 cruise passengers.

The 3,100-pasenger Ventura anchored off Port Zante with 2,049 passengers and a crew of 1,213 having arrived from Antigua. It sails later for Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The 3,100-passenger Ruby Princess arrived from St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands with 3,061 passengers and a crew of 1,180. It sails later for Barbados.

The 2,450-passenger Celebrity Summit arrived from St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands with 2,066 passengers and 934 crew members.

Most of the passengers came ashore and went on sightseeing tours via taxis, the Scenic Railway and tour buses to Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, Romney Manor, Caribelle Batik, the National Museum, as well as snorkeling, sun and sea bathing at the island’s best beaches, sailing, hiking and shopping for souvenirs.
