Kiawah Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Buddy Darby speaking at the opening of The Pavilion Beach Club

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 16TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Construction on the marina at the multi-billion dollar Christophe Harbour Development is to pick up momentum.

Mr. Buddy Darby, the Chief Executive Officer of Kiawah, the company behind the development speaking at the official opening of the Pavilion Beach Club at Sandy Bank, part of the Christophe Harbour Development on the South East Peninsula said the dredging is down to 20 feet and had high praise for local contractor , Mr. Regiwell Francis.

“He is the hardest working guy that I know. He has been dredging that harbour and is finally down to 20 feet, where it needs to be for us to bring in the super yachts,” said Darby to invited guests including Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, Chief Secretary Mr. Joseph Edmeade; Ambassador to the United Nations, His Excellency Mr. Delano Bart, local residents and homeowners and founders of Christophe Harbour.

Mr. Darby said the goal was to have his boat and other boats inside that harbour this winter, right after the first of the year.

“Our focus will be on the development of the rest of the harbour and start on the shore side facilities at the same time,” he said.

Mr. Darby disclosed that negotiations are in progress on the building of three hotels and would be disappointed if in 2012, one is not under construction.

“They will be of five-star quality. It is encouraging as it has been a long haul,” said Mr. Darby, who expressed thanks for the confidence of the persons who played a role in the project early by investing.

“We are working to make Christophe Harbour the best resort in the Caribbean,” said Mr. Darby, who complimented the local staff for the high quality of service provided.

Sandy Bank Bay is set along a dramatic horseshoe bay with two reefs and a natural sand bank more than 100 yards long and remains open to the public. Christophe Harbour, located on the more than 2,500-acre southeastern peninsula of St. Kitts, is planned to include a mega-yacht harbour and marina as well as an impressive collection of restaurants, shops, boutiques, five-star hotels, oceanfront and hillside home sites, villas, and a must-play Tom Fazio championship golf course.
