Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) — Construction of the site office for the Park Hyatt St. Kitts is underway.

The first concrete was poured recently and construction of the multi-million resort is to start shortly.

Minister of Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Ricky” Skerritt recently called on nationals to seek employment for the job opportunities that are available when construction of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts starts.

Opportunities for employment include construction supervisors, foremen, tradesmen, external works supervisors, store keepers, safety managers.

Mr. Skerritt also said that the Park Hyatt St. Kitts is vital to the future economic growth of St. Kitts and Nevis and the buttressing of the high-end tourism market, which fits into an overall plan for the development of a sustainable green island economy.

Final designs for the 5-star hotel were approved in November, 2013 and Kier Construction Ltd was contracted to commence local hiring.

The Park Hyatt St. Kitts is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2015.

Park Hyatt St. Kitts will be located at Banana Bay, Christophe Harbour, a 2,500-acre resort community being developed on St. Kitts’ southeast peninsula by Kiawah Developments.

Phase One of the resort will include the construction of 134 luxury rooms and related service facilities, conceptualized around a Caribbean village theme. The site includes a long stretch of picturesque golden sand beach and spectacular hillside views across to the nearby sister island of Nevis.

Approximately 350 construction jobs as well as additional training programme jobs are expected to be created in Phase One.
