Island Remains on Track with its Strategic Direction; New Tourism Developments

Skerrit and Delegation

St. Kitts (January 21, 2010) – St. Kitts is starting the new year off with plenty of activity and new developments to showcase at this year’s Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Caribbean Marketplace, which was held in Montego Bay, Jamaica from January 16-18, 2011.

Demonstrating measurable progress in the advancement and promotion of the island’s tourism industry, the St. Kitts delegation spread the message that St. Kitts is “the” island to watch for the coming year and beyond.

During Marketplace, members of the St. Kitts delegation had the opportunity to meet and interact with key tour operators and/or wholesalers covering the travel industry and Caribbean region, while also networking with select journalists, distribution systems, and publishing companies. The three-day event consisted of pre-scheduled appointments between suppliers and buyers as well as various social events and receptions.

Earlier this month, St. Kitts was named one of the top destinations for 2011 on popular travel website AOL Travel. The island also ranked fourth on British Airways’ list of Top 10 Destinations for 2011 per their press release on December 10, 2010.
