Man dead following Newtown shooting
ZIZ Newsroom, Aug 17, 2010, Basseterre – There is still no word yet as to what led to the shooting of a Newtown man just after midnight on Sunday or who is responsible for the shooting.
A police report stated that at about 12:10 am on Aug. 16th 2010, police responded to a report of gun shots being heard in the east street area and a search of the area revealed no useful evidence or injured persons.
Police therefore returned to regular duties. Shortly afterwards police received and responded to a report of an injured man at Mad House Alley Newtown, to which the EMS also responded and transported Javed “Fathead” Johnson of East Street to the JNF hospital where he underwent emergency treatment for gunshot injuries.
He subsequently died at about 6:10 last evening. Police are investigating and are appealing to persons with information on this crime to contact the criminal investigations department at 465 2241 ext. 220, 230 or 236. No one is in custody at this time.
