Man Injured in Shooting at Westbourne Ghaut

CrimeSceneA(ZIZ News) – The residents of Lower Westbourne Ghaut were shaken up on Monday afternoon when several shots rang out near the intersection with Fort Thomas Road.

Neighbours said they heard about nine shots being fired at around 2:30pm.

Police were on the scene collecting evidence and interviewing residents.

Sources told ZIZ News that a young man was injured in the incident but there has been no official confirmation as yet.

Meanwhile, police continue to investigate a shooting incident on the Bay Road on the weekend.

According to reports, Malcolm Dyer, a barbecue vendor on the Bay Road, was attacked at around 3am on Saturday.

He is currently warded at the Intensive Care Unit at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

The police say they are investigating the matter but no-one is in custody as yet.
