One charged for ammunition importation

ZIZ NEWSROOM, BASSETERRE, July 21, 2011 – Police have arrested a man in connection with the recent discovery of gun parts and ammunition at the port.

On Wednesday officers arrested and charged Bruce Alexander of Millionaire Street.

Alexander was charged on 13 warrants for illegal importation and possession without the appropriate license of one Glock semi automatic pistol, one Kel Tech Luger 9mm semi automatic pistol, one Kurz back up .380 semi automatic pistol, one High Point model C9 9mm firearm upper receiver, one Glock firearm magazine, 26 rounds .40 ammunition and 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The illegal weapons and rounds of ammunition were discovered at the port during a routine patrol by customs officers in the transit shed 1 last Thursday.

According to police public relations officer sergeant Stephen Hector this arrest does not signify the end of the investigation as the police are still following up with leads.
