Prime Minister Harris Congratulates Newly Appointed Governor of ECCB, Timothy Antoine

(ZIZ News) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has joined Grenada’s Prime Minister Dr. the Right Hon. Keith Mitchell in offering words of congratulations to the recently appointed Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Timothy Antoine.

Noting that Antoine brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in economics to his new post, Dr. Harris wished him every success and welcomed him to St. Kitts, where the ECCB has its headquarters.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service [SKNIS] reported that Dr. Harris has expressed desire in working with the new Governor as part of the Monetary Council “to bring about strong fiscal policies and a strengthening of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).”

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Monetary Council met on Monday, December 28, at the Ocean Terrace Inn to interview the two top candidates for the post of Governor, however, it was confirmed at another ECCB Monetary Council Meeting, this time on Friday, January 8, in St. Kitts, that Mr. Antoine had emerged as the new man to lead the ECCB.

He will officially take up his position on February 1, 2016.
