St. Kitts to Host Major Tourism Conference

BASSETERRE (1st Oct., 2012): The St. Kitts Tourism Authority and the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis invite all tourism stakeholders to this year’s CTO State of the Industry Conference to be held on 10th -12th October 2012, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Casino.

The CTO State of the Industry conference brings together public and private sector tourism industry leaders from the 32 member-countries of the CTO, as well as members of the international media. It will also showcase the new Chairman of the CTO’s Council of Ministers who will be elected on Wednesday 10th October to serve for a period of two years. Recently elected President of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), Hotelier Richard Doumeng, will also be in attendance.

Outgoing CTO Chairman, St. Kitts & Nevis Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ricky Skerritt, has said that the conference’s theme, “Developing a Winning Strategy” was chosen to reflect the urgent need for all involved in Caribbean tourism to focus on global competitiveness. Minister Skerritt also called on local tourism stakeholders of St. Kitts & Nevis to make good use of this opportunity to network with their regional tourism counterparts in a high-level conference setting. Minister Skerritt said. “I have no doubt that local participants will have an excellent opportunity to interact with, and challenge, some impressive presenters here next week. I implore all who benefit from tourism to take full advantage of the new information that this conference will present.”

Delegates will join in discussions on matters related to consumer requirements amidst the changing face of global tourism, and will have a number of opportunities to network with Ministers, Commissioners, Directors of Tourism, hoteliers, business leaders, air transportation representatives, and future leaders. The conference will be preceded on Wednesday afternoon, at the auditorium of the East Caribbean Central Bank, by a Tourism Youth Congress which is also open to the general public.

Local delegates will be required to complete a registration form and to submit it with the applicable local registration fees for processing at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. The full registration fee is US$275 and covers all business sessions, meals and social events and a Conference kit. The daily registration fee of US$150 includes all activities on the program for one day only. CTO members will get a deduction of US$50 for the full registration.
