The Honourable Minister of Sport Formally Declares Open 2014 General Assembly of Association of National Olympic Committee of the OECS (ANOCES)

Basseterre, St. Kitts– The Honourable Minister with responsibility for, inter alia, Sport, Youth Empowerment and Information Technology, was among the signature personalities at the 2014 General Assembly of the ANOCES on Saturday 5th July, 2014. The General Assembly was convened, symbolically, in the St Lucia Room, at the Marriott Hotel Resort and Casino.

Minister Phillip, prior to formally declaring open the 2014 General Assembly of ANOCES, expressed significant praise and appreciation for the superlative contribution to sport, youth, community and national development, of the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee.

The Honourable Minister Phillip welcomed the delegates to St Kitts and Nevis and wished the meeting productive deliberations.

Minister Phillip extended congratulations to the current NOC/CGA President of Antigua and Barbuda, E. P. Chet Green, who was elected to Parliament in the recently contested General Elections of that country. The Honourable E. P Chet Green has been allocated the Ministry of Sport, together with a number of other portfolios including Trade, Community Development, Gender, Culture and Carnival.

Typical of the learning environment they engender and characteristic of their humility and capacity to engage in dialogue, both the Honourable Minister Phillip and The Honourable Sir K Dwight Venner (guest speaker for the occasion) stayed on to entertain a spontaneous question and answer session.

The Honourable Glenn Phillip was also most prominent in the V.I.P stand at the Silver Jubilee Athletic Stadium during the 2- day staging of the 2014 OECS Track and Field Championships.
