Charles E. Mills Dominates Interschool Championships Day One

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS — Charles E. Mills Secondary School has stormed to the top of the medal standings after a dominant opening day at the 2026 TDC Track & Field Interschool Championships, held at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.

The three-day competition, which runs from March 20–22, saw Charles E. Mills claim an impressive 10 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals on Day 1 — a haul that puts them comfortably ahead of the field heading into the penultimate day of competition.

Charlestown Secondary School from Nevis sits in second place with 7 gold medals, but has positioned itself as the most versatile team on the podium, banking an outstanding 10 bronze medals alongside 3 silvers. That depth could prove crucial as the championships enter their final stretch.

Verchilds High School rounds out the top three, matching Charlestown’s bronze count and posting an equally strong 6 gold and 6 silver — making them a genuine threat to close the gap before Sunday’s finale.

Basseterre High School occupies fourth place with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze, while Washington Archibald High School — despite collecting just one gold — has been a consistent presence on the podium with 4 silvers and 2 bronzes.

Cayon High School and Gingerland Secondary School each secured 1 gold and 2 silver medals on Day 1, keeping them in contention for a top-five finish.

Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College has yet to find gold but picked up 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, while Denzil Llewelyn Douglas Secondary School earned 1 silver. Immaculate Conception Catholic School is still searching for its first medal of the championships.

With two days of competition remaining, the battle for overall supremacy is far from decided. Charles E. Mills holds a commanding lead, but Charlestown’s bronze-medal depth and Verchilds’ consistency suggest the final standings could shift significantly before the closing ceremony on Sunday.

The championships are sponsored by TDC and supported by Dasani, Powerade, and the St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics Association.

Competition continues Saturday and concludes Sunday at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.
