Civil Registry Access Is A Human Right

ZIZ News—12th September, 2013– The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis in collaboration with the OAS has embarked upon a civil registry project that would facilitate the easy access of civil registry information in years to come.

Based on the belief that having access to one’s personal identification information is a human right the OAS and the federal government has undertaken the digitization of the civil registry.

OAS local representative Starrett Greene says that identity information is needed for important events in people’s daily lives.

One of the ultimate goals of the civil registry identification project is to accommodate a regional civil registry networking system.

The civil registry updating project began in the federation on 18th March this year.
