ECCB Initiatives To Assist Small Businesses

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is working on several initiatives to help small businesses across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union in the face of the ongoing pandemic.

Recently the ECCB hosted Digital Dialogues on Pandemic and Small Businesses which focused on how can small businesses can rebound from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor of the ECCB Timothy Antoine joined panelists to examine the challenges affecting small businesses and what opportunities are available to small business owners to keep their operations going in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In outlining some of the initiatives the bank is working on, Governor Antoine said The ECCB is working with international agencies on a digital transformation project.

He said there is also a push to make access to finance easier for small businesses through a credit bureau.

The governor said the ECCB is working with the World Bank on a renewable energy facility which will help to bring down the cost of electricity in the region, which is a major issue for small business.
