(ZIZ News) — Residents of Prickle Pear Alley were woken up early Tuesday morning by the smell of smoke and the crackling of flames as a fire broke out in a pile of trash near a home.
Around 4:30 am a few neighbours jumped into action trying to put out the blaze using buckets as they waited for the fire truck to arrive.
When the fire officers got on the scene they managed to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
Over the past few months there have been about three fires in that same area, most apparently starting from a pile of garbage.
The exact cause of Tuesday morning’s fire has not been determined.
