Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 17, 2020 (ZIZ News): Supermarkets are trying to do their part to assure customers that their health is a priority as the twin island federation prepares for a potential Coronavirus outbreak.

We visited Horsford’s ValuMart on Monday March 16 and noticed that the supermarket has been taking preventive measures to maintain a healthy environment by using sanitizing solutions in high-traffic areas.

ZIZ spoke with Supervisor, Cynthia Pringle-Daley who explained what takes place upon entry.

“The measures we are taking for customers, we are actually sanitizing their hands and we are sanitizing their carts so everything should be okay for the customers”.

It was noted that cashiers will continue to use their handsanitizers as a common and suitable health practice.

Pringle-Daley also mentioned that costumers were purchasing large numbers of cleaning and disinfecting products such as Clorox disinfecting spray, Lysol anti-bacterial wipes, Clorox cleaning solutions and handsanitizers.

She explained that large quantities of toilet paper was purchased on Friday in what is being referred to as panic purchasing but assured customers that there was no need for panic as the store will continue restocking these items.
