(ZIZ)– Vaughn Parris of New Castle was formally arrested and charged for Throwing Missiles, which was committed on 7th June 2014.

Latisha Joshua of New Castle was formally arrested and charged for Battery on Police, which was committed on 9th June 2014.

Meanwhile, Miles Walters of Cotton Ground was convicted for Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition which were committed on 20th October 2013, and sentenced to five (5) years in prison with hard labour for each offence which is to run concurrently.

Shauna Browne of Brick Kiln Village was convicted for Battery On Police which was committed on 27th February 2014, and fined five hundred ($500.00) which is to be paid in one month or will serve one (1) month in prison with hard labour.

In other news, the Sandy Point Station is investigating an incident in which a wooden house was damaged by fire and a number of house hold items destroyed, which occurred on Wednesday 11th June 2014 at The Alley, Sandy Point.

Initial investigations revealed that a resident in the area was cleaning an empty piece of land and started a fire burn trash and bush. The fire swiftly got out of control and spread to a neighbours house causing damage to the house and destroyed a number house hold items. One person is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Commissioner CG Walwyn therefore takes this opportunity to inform general public that it is offence to light fire on any piece land without the approval or consent of the Fire and Rescue Services Department.
