Prime Minister Douglas issues statement on Norway bombing

ZIZ NEWSROOM, Basseterre, July 23 2011 – Prime Minister Douglas has offered his condolences to the government and people of Norway following an apparent bombing at the building which housed the Prime Minister’s office in Oslo on Friday.

In a statement issued today Dr Douglas said “I am deeply saddened by the news of the devastating explosion which targeted Government building in Oslo and the massacre of innocent people on the island of Utoya. I share in this dark moment of national grief and mourning and extend heartfelt condolences to those who perished in the wake of this act of terror and convey my best wishes for their safe keeping.

St Kitts and Nevis joins the peaceful nations of the international community in condemning these dastardly acts of terrorism perpetrated by those who have neither regard for human lives nor due respect for law and order. The international community must remain united in its resolve to address this scourge and to bring perpetrators to justice.

My Government and I I have no doubt that you are imbued wirh the political will to mobilise the requisite resources and expertise to ensure a speedy return to normalcy, even as you attempt to analyse the sordid details of these two incidences that have triggered international responses.”

He said the St.Kitts and Nevis sends prayers and sentiments of goodwill towards Norway.
