Prime Minister Harris Serves Lunch to Soldiers

(ZIZ News) – On Thursday, Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris took time from his usual busy schedule to sit and even serve lunch to members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force.

Dr. Harris said that was one way of showing appreciation to the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect and serve our nation.

Before sitting to have lunch, the Prime Minister urged the soldiers to maintain a sense of vigilance, particularly during the Christmas and Carnival season.

He said, “As we approach the Carnival season, heightened activity, we expect that we will have an even greater effort by the men and women of the Defense Force in service to their country at this particularly point in time.”

“We’re hoping that it will be an incident free Carnival and Christmas celebrations and it would be that way on account of the excellent work which you will display and cooperation which we will give in this particular endeavour,” he added.

Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Wallace used the occasion to pledge the commitment of his officers to maintaining peace and security in St. Kitts and Nevis.

“We also wish to assure you that the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force will continue to serve our federation with professionalism, loyalty and dignity and we will do all within our powers to ensure that crime is brought under control,” Commander Wallace stated, noting that the SKNDF will continue to support its sister agencies in service to the federation.

Dr. Harris was given the honour of cutting the Christmas turkey and he used Thursday’s event to hear some of the concerns and recommendations of members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force.
