Residents urged to Pay their Liquor Licences

(ZIZ News) – The Inland Revenue Department is reminding business owners and liquor license holders to pay, as the due date is January 31st.

Shanette Shaw of the department’s Publicity Unit has outlined penalties that individuals will face if they fail to meet legal obligations.

She warns that the interest and penalty charges for late renewal of a business license is 1% interest per month and there is a $50 per day late payment penalty. Also, for liquor licenses there is a 1% interest charge per month, she said.

The Inland Revenue Department is also urging persons who are operating without licenses to apply.

Persons desirous of a business license are directed to apply at the business registry at the Ministry of Finance Golden Rock.

Permanent licenses can be acquired at the Magistrate’s Court while applications for temporary liquor licenses can be made at the Inland Revenue Department.

Payments can be made at the Inland Revenue Department, which is located on the Bay Road in downtown Basseterre.
