Student Assessment Necessary

Minister of Education, The Hon Nigel Carty, says student assessment is key for effective education.

Speaking during a workshop last week for the Benchmark Literacy Programme, Minister Carty said the only way to determine students’ needs is through ongoing assessment, which the Ministry of Education highlighted as a key aspect.

Meanwhile, Cara Gamberdella, Benchmark representative, noted that Benchmark is also culturally appropriate.

“Benchmark is a US-Based company and because of that we offer books that meet the needs of a multicultural audience because the US is in fact multicultural. It’s my job to make sure that the books that come here to St Kitts-Nevis as well as to any other part of the world are culturally appropriate to that part of the world.”

Benchmark Literacy Programme uses various texts to work with students at all reading levels.
