Technology in the classrooms

ZIZ News — Senior education officials from St.Kitts and Nevis are looking at ways of using technology to boost their teaching strategies.

The OAS and the Ministry of Education today hosted a workshop specifically geared towards education officers and high school principals.

The goal is to train these educators to respond to the needs of today’s students by infusing modern technology into their teaching practices.

It falls under a multi-national project called “Preparing students for 21st century employment in the Eastern Caribbean”.  Local OAS representative, Starret Greene said he feels this workshop would improve the quality of classroom interaction.

Education minister, the Hon Nigel Carty said this type of workshop is an investment into the future of the nation.

Topics to be covered include “Typical applications of technology in education”, “Matching the tool to the required outcome” and “ The role of open source software”.
