West Indies suffer at the hands of Indian Test Players

(Sports Page) The West Indies A team got a bit of a beating on day two of the third unofficial test match versus their Indian team counterparts.

On day one, the Windies a team faltered to be bowled out for a paltry 268 in 77.4 overs. Test opener Kieran Powell could only manage 21 and Kraigg Brathwaite, fresh from his century in the last game, was caught early off Zaheer Khan for just 1.

However, Leon Johnson stepped up to the plate with a cultured half century and the Guyanese duo of Deonarine and Fudadin also got starts but failed to carry on.

The main wrecker of their innings was Abhishek Nayar who bagged 4 wickets with his right arm seamers.

When the India A team batted, the West Indians celebrated the early wicket of Jagadeesh who was comprehensively bowled by Delorn Johnson but after that they were forced to toil throughout the day, as Indian test players, Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara teamed up in a stand valued 207 runs before Gambhir was bowled by Deonarine.

Gambhir who is 31 years old has already scored 11 test hundreds and Pujara who is 25, has already scored 4.

There was no respite for the Windies team as Gambhir’s dismissal let in another seasoned test veteran, Virender Sehwag who at age 34 has already scored 23 test centuries. He immediately stamped his authority, hitting a six and a four as if he was still in T-20 mode. He eventually went before the close of the day’s play but Pujara batted through with Nayar to the close
