Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 17, 2020 (ZIZ News): Medical Chief of Staff at the Joseph N France General Hospital in St. Kitts, Dr. Cameron Wilkinson has debunked claims suggesting that the frequency spectrum of 5G is causing the COVID-19 virus.

Dr. Wilkinson was at the time addressing community concerns about the safety of 5G during the April 16 National Emergency Operations Centre Daily Briefing.

He said although the rumors have been circulating on social media about the latest mobile technology, there is no evidence to support these claims.

“There is no scientific or technological proof connecting 5G technology with the spread of the coronavirus. Viruses cannot travel on radio waves or mobile networks”, he explained.

Dr. Wilkinson said to further discredit these claims, the virus has been located in countries like St. Kitts and Nevis that do not have 5G network.

In speaking to the two major networks here in St. Kitts, I caN tell you that they say neither FLOW nor Digicel has deployed any 5G infrastructure on their mobile towers in St. Kitts and Nevis…. So without having 5G here in St. Kitts, we do have COVID-19 which means that it is not related to 5G” Dr. Wilkinson explained.

The Medical Chief of Staff reminded the public that the Novel Coronavirus is easily spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, touching a contaminated surface and then touching the face whether eyes, nose or mouth.  People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who exhales droplets.

He said that the World Health Organization (WHO) has placed the 5G network social media frenzy on its website underneath the Myth category.
