Newtown United Claim Women’s League Title
BASSETERRE — Honda Newtown United are the 2026 SKNFA Elvis Star Browne Women’s League champions after defeating defending champions Cayon Rockettes 2-1 in Wednesday night’s final at the National Bank Group Technical Center.
Christi-Anne Mills scored both goals for Newtown United in the thrilling contest and was named MVP of the Finals for her performance.
The title caps a dominant campaign for Newtown United, who also secured the regular season championship with an unbeaten record, finishing atop the league table with 10 wins from 10 matches, 78 goals scored and just three conceded.
Cayon Rockettes finished second in the standings with 24 points, followed by Old Road Lady Jets in third with 18. St. Paul’s United and Bath United rounded out the table in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Bath United had six points deducted for forfeiting a match, in accordance with the competition’s rules and regulations. Security Forces United FC was withdrawn from the remainder of the competition after failing to meet participation requirements, with remaining opponents awarded the match and three points each.
The SKNFA also announced its individual award winners about a week before the final. Kevin Welsh of Honda Newtown United was named Coach of the Year, while Mills also claimed the League MVP award. Glenecia Battice was named Best Midfielder, and Newtown United’s Shitoncia Stapleton was named Best Defender. Jahnique Arthurton of Newtown United took home the Golden Glove, and Leranja Wilkinson of Old Road United Lady Jets won the Golden Boot.
With the double crown of regular season and finals champions, Newtown United closed out the 2026 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League season as the league’s standout team, sweeping both team and individual honors.
