Beloved Traffic Officer Retires Christmas Eve

BASSETERRE – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force will honour one of its most recognizable figures tomorrow as Police Constable Donaley Chiverton-Liburd makes her final ceremonial appearance before retirement.

The special event takes place at 4 PM on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the junction of Fort Street and Cayon Street in Basseterre.

For decades, PC Chiverton-Liburd transformed routine traffic duty into something extraordinary. Her distinctive white leather gloves became her trademark as she directed traffic with what the RSCNPF describes as “unmistakable style, flair, grace, and confidence.”

“Those white leather gloves were not just part of the uniform. They were her signature,” the police force stated in their announcement.

Christmas Eve 2025 marks her last official working day with the RSCNPF, ending a career that made her a beloved presence on the streets of Basseterre.

The ceremonial appearance will serve as both a respectful farewell and celebration of her dedicated service. The police force emphasizes that PC Chiverton-Liburd brought joy to the public through her unique combination of professionalism and personality.

Members of the public, commuters, and well-wishers are encouraged to attend and show their appreciation for the retiring officer.

“Thank you, PC Chiverton-Liburd, for your service. Wishing you a joyful retirement and a well-earned next chapter,” the RSCNPF announced.

The event offers residents a final opportunity to witness PC Chiverton-Liburd’s signature traffic direction style and bid farewell to a true original of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.
