Medical International Scholarships for Two Nevsians

Two young Nevisian educators have been awarded the 2026 Medical University of the Americas and Nevis Island Administration scholarships to support their university studies.

Michaela Maynard and Aliyah Sampson were selected from eight applicants during a scholarship award ceremony held on July 13th.

Minister of Health, Senator Jahnel Nisbett, said the scholarship programme provides funding for recipients to pursue an undergraduate degree of up to four years, with priority given to fields that support the development needs of Nevis.

Sampson will pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Midwestern University, while Maynard will study family and child development at Liberty University.

Associate Dean at the Medical University Of The Americas, Dr. Brenda Roman, said the University is proud to continue its partnership with the Nevis Island Administration, which has provided more than thirty scholarships to Nevisian students over the years.

Both recipients thanked the university and the Nevis Island Administration for the opportunity and said they look forward to using their education to contribute to the development of Nevis.
