Bath United Sinks to Bottom in Relegation Battle

BASSETERRE: Bath United have dropped to the bottom of the National Bank Group/SKNFA Premier League table following their 8-3 thrashing by Newtown United, with just six points from 14 matches leaving them locked in a desperate three-way relegation battle.

Bath sit in 10th place on goal difference, level on six points with Sandy Point FC in ninth. The two basement clubs have identical records of one win, three draws, and 10 losses, but Bath’ -25 goal difference is marginally better than Sandy Point’s -22, keeping them off the absolute bottom by the slimmest of margins.

Just one point above them, Dieppe Bay Eagles occupy eighth place with seven points from 14 matches. The Eagles’ shocking -37 goal difference, worst in the league, reflects the heavy defeats they’ve suffered, including 8-0 and 5-0 losses in recent weeks. All three teams face an increasingly desperate fight for survival.

At the top, MFCR Old Road United Jets continue their relentless march toward the history books with 40 points from 14 matches. Their remarkable 13-1-0 record includes 51 goals scored and just 10 conceded, giving them a commanding +41 goal difference and a nine-point cushion over second-place Honda Newtown United.

Newtown sits on 31 points with a 10-1-3 record, their recent eight-goal demolition of Bath highlighting their attacking prowess. However, Old Road’s perfect record makes the top-team race increasingly one-sided, with Newtown now competing more for second in the points table.

Despite their early season six-point deduction, defending champions S.L. Horsfords St. Paul’s United occupy third place with 24 points. Their 10-0-4 record demonstrates they remain one of the league’s strongest teams on the pitch, with an eight-game winning streak proving their quality even with the costly penalty.

The playoff race remains tight, with St. Peters and Cayon tied on 22 points in fourth and fifth place respectively. Cayon’s three consecutive wins, including a 5-0 rout of Dieppe Bay, have them surging at the perfect time. Village Superstars sit sixth with 19 points, while Conaree FC hold seventh with 15 points.
