Jamaica Approves Casino Rules to Boost Tourism

JAMAICA – Jamaica is moving closer to the formal launch of its casino gaming industry after the Senate approved the Casino Gaming General Regulations 2025 on April 17th.

The regulations, developed under the casino gaming commission in line with the casino gaming act 2010, establish the framework for licensing, operations, reporting, inspections and compliance across the sector.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Senator Kamina Johnson Smith said casino gaming forms part of a broader strategy to diversify Jamaica’s tourism industry through integrated resort developments combining hotels, entertainment and other amenities.

The Minister said safeguards are in place to protect vulnerable persons and prevent financial crimes. The licensing process can now move forward once applicants meet all requirements.
