CTO gets firsthand look at Montserrat’s tourism potential

Brades, Montserrat — The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) paid a visit to Montserrat on Friday.

Richard Sealy, minister of tourism and international transport of Barbados and also chairman of CTO, and Hugh Riley, secretary general of CTO, visited with Montserrat’s premier and minister of tourism, Donaldson Romeo.

The main purpose of the visit was to understand Montserrat’s unique position and situation and to be better able to offer advice and technical assistance where needed.

It was also important for the CTO to outline to Montserrat the areas that it can assist in, such as identifying funding opportunities, as well as assisting with the preparation of funding proposals, assistance in sharpening the focus to meet donor requirements and showing the possibilities of accessing resource materials that would otherwise be available only to the donor’s members.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is the region’s tourism development agency, with 30 Dutch, English, French and Spanish country members and a myriad of private sector allied members. The CTO’s vision is to position the Caribbean as the most desirable, year round, warm weather destination. Its purpose is Leading Sustainable Tourism – One Sea, One Voice, One Caribbean.
