Police Launch Investigation After Body Recovered at Lindbergh Bay
UNITED STATES – ST. THOMAS: Detectives with the Virgin Islands Police Department have launched a formal inquiry after recovering a man’s body from the waters of Lindbergh Bay Beach. Authorities subsequently identified the deceased as 43-year-old Eric Halliday.
The initial incident unfolded on Sunday morning when a member of the public reported seeing an individual floating in the water to the Virgin Islands Port Authority. Port Authority officers quickly deployed to the scene and, with assistance from bystanders along the shore, brought the unresponsive man out of the water.
Responding law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel examined the individual upon arrival, confirming that he exhibited no vital signs.
The Virgin Islands Police Department stated that an official autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact cause and manner of death. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Law enforcement authorities urge anyone with relevant information regarding the event to contact the VIPD Investigation Bureau, call the emergency 911 dispatch center, or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers USVI.
