Fugitive extradited from Ja pleads not guilty in 1994 stabbing of ex-girlfriend
Woburn, Massachusetts (AP) — A wanted man who police say fled Massachusetts after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in her home more than 20 years ago has pleaded not guilty to assault charges.
The Boston Globe reports that 59-year-old Arnold Gabbidon entered the plea Thursday on charges including assault with intent to murder.
Gabbidon was arrested last month after he was tracked to Jamaica, where he was living with a relative.
He is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, stalking and other offenses in connection with the January 1994 attack.
State police say Gabbidon broke down the woman’s door and slashed her throat as she slept, leaving her for dead. She survived.
Gabbidon is being held without bail. His defence lawyer didn’t comment on the case.
