CPL To Honor Sir Garfield Sobers
The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League will honour the legacy of Sir Garfield Sobers with a minute’s applause before the first match at each tournament venue this season.
The tribute will be observed in every host territory as the tournament moves across the Caribbean, giving players, officials and fans the opportunity to celebrate the life of one of the game’s greatest players.
Sir Garfield, widely regarded as cricket’s greatest all-rounder, helped shape the history of west indies cricket and inspired generations of players across the region.
He died at his home in St. Michael, Barbados, on July 17th at the age of 89.
The CPL said the tribute will ensure supporters across the region have the opportunity to pay their respects to a true Caribbean sporting icon.
