Guyana Opposition Calls For Salvage Of Sunken Mv Barima
Guyana’s opposition leader Azruddin Mohamed is calling for the recovery of the sunken MV Barima, as families of those still missing seek closure.
Mohamed says he has met with survivors and relatives of victims who want the vessel raised to help determine what happened and recover their loved ones.
More than 30 people remain missing following the sinking of the ferry off Guyana’s coast.
Guyana’s government has said it is considering available options, including offers of local and international assistance, while taking into account the wishes of the victims’ families.
A commission of inquiry into the tragedy has also been established to examine the circumstances surrounding the sinking.
