SKN creating an information society

PMDouglasInOfficeAZIZ–St Kitts and Nevis has begun its thrust to become a fully technological society.

And this has been helped by the signing of the new 2013 – 2018 Information Communication Technology Agreement between the local government and the government of the Republic Of China, Taiwan last week.

Prime minister, the Right Hon Dr Denzil Douglas says there are certain areas of development identified under this agreement – one being ICT infrastructure development.

He said “We shall in fact strengthen the national ICT infrastructure and we shall pursue this under the ages of achieving the national development agenda for St Kitts and Nevis.”

The prime minister says another area of cooperation speaks to transformational government.

“The process of designing and delivering public services around the needs of our citizens shall be done in accordance with the socio-economic development policies and yet again international ICT standards that would have been adopted by the government” he said.

Minister of information technology, Hon Glenn Phillip says this agreement illuminates the path towards building the information society that will contribute to transforming the local economy.
