Four Teams Share Top Spot After Division 1 Opening Week

BASSETERRE — Four clubs sit on three points after the opening week of the 2026-‘27 SKNFA Division 1 season, with Mantab and ELCO Ltd Security Forces United posting the biggest wins in a week that produced 13 goals, five clean sheets and no red cards.

Trevor Fraites & Associates Molineux Pitbulls and CIBC Village Galaxy got the season going on Thursday, each winning 2-0 at the Atiba E. Harris Sporting Complex. Molineux beat Rivers FC behind a 2nd-minute goal from Ronald Williams and an 81st-minute strike from substitute Davontay Carty. Galaxy then beat Sandy Point, who were relegated from the Premier League, with Jaheem Charles scoring in the 49th minute and Renardo Madurie in the 82nd.

Mantab set the early pace on Friday, beating Conaree Fireballs International 4-0 at Saddlers Football Stadium. Kirae Jarvis, Rawle Benjamin, Alphonso Francis and captain Jermaine Carey scored, with two goals in each half.

Security Forces matched them on Saturday with a 4-1 win over KFC Trinity/Challengers United, who finished fourth in Division 1 last season. Donyelle Dequane Francis scored twice, and Joshua Finch and Shama Walters also scored, while C’Steve Amoree Wrensford got Trinity’s lone goal.

The week closed on Sunday with the only draw, a scoreless meeting between Mother Becky Tea Saddlers United and Bath United, the other club relegated from the Premier League. The match produced five of the week’s 14 yellow cards.

Francis is the only player with more than one goal, and Mantab and Security Forces lead the early goal-difference race at +4 and +3. Conaree, Trinity, Rivers and Sandy Point are the four teams without a point, and Conaree’s -4 goal difference is the league’s worst.

The top four teams are all on three points, so goal difference is likely to matter in the early weeks. Lodge Patriots and Garden Hotspurs have moved up to the Premier League, leaving Division 1 without its top two finishers from last season.
