199th Independence Anniversary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela celebrated locally

ZIZ News…July 6, 2010 – Senior Government officials and members of the Diplomatic Corp came out to lend their support to the celebrations marking the 199th anniversary of the signing of the Act of Independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, July 5, 1811 to July 5, 2010.

The local celebration to mark this significant milestone was held on Monday evening at the Pereria Conference Ball Room, OTI.

The event organized by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis featured an address by the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic, Cruz de Jesus Bello. His address was preceded by performances featuring Masud Sadiki doing “Count Your Blessings”, a musical selection from the Ministry of culture along with a dance performance and a beautiful rendition done by Kyla Browne entitled “Chasing Pavement”.

In his address the ambassador spoke of the road to independence as well as the long and rich history of his country.

A tribute was also paid to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela by Mr. Gus Williams of Radio One who spoke of the contribution made by the African slaves that was liberated by Simon Bolivar in the historical development of Venezuela.

Among the officials in attendance were the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin, OAS Ambassador Mr. Starret Greene and Chief Secretary Mr. Joseph Edmeade. The ceremony concluded with a cocktail reception.
