PM Drew Touts Safe Harbor Jobs Boost

BASSETERRE – Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance M. Drew is championing a major maritime development that he says will create substantial employment opportunities for Kittitians and Nevisians.

Following a weekend site visit to the South East Peninsula, Dr. Drew outlined his vision for the Safe Harbor project’s economic impact on the twin-island federation.

“This development creates meaningful opportunities for employment across all levels of operations, from skilled technical roles to services and management,” the Prime Minister stated.

Dr. Drew emphasized that St. Kitts is positioning itself as a premier destination in the maritime and tourism sectors, with Safe Harbor serving as a cornerstone of this strategic direction.

The project aligns with the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) Government’s broader economic agenda. According to Dr. Drew, the development demonstrates his administration’s focus on three key priorities: sustainable economic growth, job creation, and expanding opportunities for nationals to participate in the country’s development.

The Safe Harbor facility on the South East Peninsula is expected to accommodate various maritime operations, potentially attracting international vessels and creating a ripple effect throughout the local economy. Technical positions, service sector jobs, and management roles are anticipated across the development.

While specific employment numbers were not disclosed during the Prime Minister’s visit, the government has signaled that the project represents a significant investment in the federation’s maritime infrastructure.

The development comes as St. Kitts and Nevis continues to diversify its economy beyond traditional sectors, leveraging its Caribbean location to capture growing maritime and tourism markets in the region.
