Police Commissioner Leads Walk-Through In New Castle
NEW CASTLE, Nevis — The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) took its community policing efforts directly to residents of New Castle on Wednesday, August 12, as Commissioner of Police James Sutton led senior officers on a walk-through of Shaw’s Road and Rawlins Pasture.
The evening initiative brought Sutton, members of High Command and rank-and-file officers face to face with residents, who turned out in numbers to engage with police. According to the RSCNPF, community members expressed appreciation for the visible police presence and voiced a desire for such walk-throughs to become a regular part of policing in New Castle.
Officers said they welcomed the direct feedback from residents, including candid and pointed remarks, describing that kind of open exchange as the essence of genuine community engagement.
The RSCNPF framed the walk-through as an example of the trust-building it says is central to effective community policing, noting that when residents speak up, the force listens, and when officers show up, communities respond in kind.
The New Castle walk-through is part of a broader push by the RSCNPF to strengthen ties between police and the communities they serve across St. Kitts and Nevis.
